Hinchen Recruitment Group is partnering with a leading Australian construction materials business to appoint a Project Director for a m
major infrastructure upgrade at its NSW Southern Highlands location.
This is a business critical investment that will secure the long-term supply of raw materials to its operations. The programme includes a new primary crusher, screening and conveying systems, an enclosed stacker reclaimer, and associated power, rail and site infrastructure. The completed facilities are designed to deliver 4 million tonnes of crushed rock each year.
The appeal of this role is the point at which you will join. Key equipment sourcing is under way, but the delivery structure and contracting approach are still being shaped. Our client wants an experienced leader who will take ownership, bring sound commercial judgement and build the team required to deliver the project successfully.

You will be accountable for project scope, cost, schedule, safety and quality. One of your most important challenges will be integrating internationally sourced equipment with local construction and installation packages, while works proceed alongside an operating site.
You will develop the delivery plan and contracting strategy, build and lead a multidisciplinary team, manage major suppliers and contractors, and oversee construction, commissioning and handover. You will be supported by established engineering, procurement, operations, legal and planning teams.
About you
You have personally led a major capital project involving crushing, processing plant or comparable bulk materials handling infrastructure. You may come from quarrying, mining, cement, minerals processing or another heavy industrial environment.
You will bring strong experience in contract strategy and administration, managing multiple specialist contractors, resolving commercial and technical interfaces, and delivering works within a live operation. You are equally credible on site and in an executive project review, and you know how to build a team that takes ownership of delivery.
An engineering degree or related qualification is required.
This is a site based fixed term opportunity, with the project currently expected to run through to approximately June 2029.
