Operations Manager | Queensland Recycling
Stapylton | $180,000 base + super + $17,000 vehicle allowance

Build the operation. Lead its growth.
Opportunities to join a business at this stage are rare. Our client is establishing its Queensland recycling operation, and we are seeking an Operations Manager who wants to influence how it runs from the outset.

Starting with the new Stapylton facility, you will help turn construction and demolition materials and returned concrete into quality recovered products for reuse. With further facilities and a potential acquisition under consideration, this newly created role offers scope to build your team, establish operating standards and take on broader responsibility as the business develops.

You will have the backing of an established construction materials business with an integrated concrete, asphalt, cement and quarry network, alongside the autonomy to make practical decisions and drive results.

Your opportunity
Reporting directly to the General Manager Recycling, you will lead the operational and financial performance of the assigned Queensland recycling sites.
Your first priority will be preparing Stapylton for operation. Working with the construction Project Manager, you will establish the workforce arrangements, contractor coordination and operating processes needed for a safe and effective opening.
As the operation develops, you will:
  • Lead Site Managers and operational teams, building capability and clear accountability.
  • Manage material receipt, crushing and processing, stock control and product dispatch.
  • Drive plant utilisation, equipment reliability, maintenance and processing efficiency.
  • Manage crushing and processing contractors against safety, quality and production expectations.
  • Take ownership of budgets, operating costs and P&L performance within your remit.
  • Work alongside the Business Development Manager to align customer commitments and growing volumes with operational capacity.
  • Lead safety and environmental compliance, supported by specialist teams.
  • Support the establishment and integration of additional operations as approved.
What you will bring
You are an operational leader who understands what it takes to run a safe, productive and commercially successful facility. You can move confidently between the site, the team and the numbers and translate performance data into practical action.
Your background may be in recycling, waste and resource recovery, quarrying, concrete, asphalt, manufacturing or a comparable heavy industrial environment.
We are looking for experience in:
  • Leading operational teams and managing contractors.
  • Managing material processing and plant performance.
  • Overseeing maintenance, equipment reliability and asset availability.
  • Managing budgets and taking accountability for financial results.
  • Maintaining strong safety and environmental standards.
  • Improving operations and bringing people with you through change.
Quarry or construction and demolition recycling experience would be valuable, as would exposure to crushing, screening, washing, new facility start-ups or business integration. An engineering qualification is not required. Relevant plant tickets are desirable, and training in our client's systems will be provided.

Why consider this role?
Influence from the beginning. Help establish the routines, standards and team that will underpin a new operation.
Room to grow. Start with Stapylton and contribute to a developing Queensland site network.
Ownership and support. Work directly with the GM, with specialist support and experienced interstate Operations Managers to draw on.
A tangible contribution. Lead an operation that recovers useful materials and returns them to construction.
The package discussed is $180,000 base salary plus superannuation and a $17,000 motor vehicle allowance.
The role is primarily site based, Monday to Friday, with early starts and some work from home flexibility. Travel between Queensland sites will generally be day trips, with occasional interstate travel. Initial work may be based at our client's office (Milton) before Stapylton opens.
Ready to help build what comes next?
If you bring strong operational leadership, commercial judgement and the drive to establish a successful operation, we would like to hear from you.
