Are you an experienced environmental professional who enjoys getting out on site, solving practical challenges and working alongside operational leaders to make a genuine difference?

Our client is Australia's largest vertically integrated construction materials company, and today they are seeking an experienced Environment Business Partner to support their extensive Queensland operations.

This is an opportunity to combine your technical environmental expertise with a highly visible, operationally focused business partnering role, influencing environmental compliance, risk management and continuous improvement across a diverse network of quarries, concrete batching plants, asphalt operations and recycling facilities.

Reporting to the Senior Environment Business Partner, you will work closely with Quarry Managers, Regional Managers and operational teams, providing practical advice, coaching and guidance to strengthen environmental capability and accountability.

This is not a desk-based compliance role.  Success will come from your ability to establish credibility on site, understand operational challenges and translate environmental obligations into practical solutions that support both compliance and business performance.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Partner with operational leaders to strengthen environmental compliance, risk management and site performance.
  • Conduct site inspections, environmental audits and assurance activities, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide practical advice on environmental approvals, licence conditions, legislation and operational requirements.
  • Support environmental monitoring programs, including water, dust, noise, emissions and other site-specific obligations.
  • Coordinate environmental compliance reporting, including annual returns, monitoring results and National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) submissions.
  • Investigate environmental incidents and complaints, identify root causes and support corrective actions.
  • Review environmental management plans, approvals and operating conditions to maintain compliance.
  • Advise operational teams on land disturbance, vegetation clearing, water management and other site activities.
  • Coach and educate site personnel, building environmental capability, ownership and accountability.
  • Work with consultants, regulators and internal stakeholders to resolve environmental matters and support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to environmental improvement initiatives and the implementation of Boral's broader environmental strategy.
What you will bring to this role:
  • You will be a technically capable environmental professional with the confidence, initiative and interpersonal skills to influence outcomes in a complex operational environment.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Approximately five years or more of environmental experience within heavy industry, mining, quarrying, construction, manufacturing, waste management or a regulatory environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, licence conditions and compliance requirements.
  • Practical experience with environmental monitoring, inspections, incident investigations, reporting and risk management.
  • The ability to interpret technical and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical operational solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to advise, coach and influence site and regional management teams.
  • A proactive, self-directed approach, with the ability to prioritise competing activities across multiple locations.
  • Sound commercial judgement and an appreciation of the need to balance environmental compliance with operational realities.
  • Experience working across multiple operational sites, particularly within quarrying, mining or other extractive industries, will be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to environmental regulator engagement, approvals or licence variations would also be advantageous.
  • Importantly, you will enjoy being visible in the business, building trusted relationships and taking ownership of delivering outcomes.
