Construction Manager - Process Filter Upgrade

Work type:  Full Time

Date posted:  07-Oct-2026

Location:  Bowral, NSW - NSW

Industry: Construction

Salary: $201,600 + Relocation Support

An opportunity exists to join a major Australian industrial organisation delivering a significant capital investment program within an established heavy manufacturing operation in the Southern Highlands of NSW.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to take site ownership of a major process filtration upgrade, leading the safe and effective delivery of demolition, installation, integration and commissioning activities within a live operating plant.

This is not a desk-based project management role. We are looking for someone who enjoys being close to the work, working directly with contractors and solving construction issues on site.  During peak construction periods you can expect to spend a significant proportion of your time in the field, coordinating contractors and ensuring works are safely and effectively executed around an operating facility.

What you'll be responsible for
You will lead construction delivery of the process filter replacement scope, including the installation of a new bag filter, associated ducting, fans, structural steel and access systems, together with demolition of the existing equipment.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead daily construction execution across the process filter upgrade
  • Coordinate demolition, mechanical installation and construction completion
  • Manage contractors and subcontractors across multiple disciplines
  • Coordinate mechanical, structural, civil, process and electrical interfaces
  • Plan and manage shutdowns, tie-ins and live-plant construction activities
  • Sequence works around operational requirements and plant constraints
  • Ensure site and contractor readiness ahead of construction activities
  • Resolve site issues quickly and practically
  • Manage punch lists, defects and construction completion
  • Support commissioning and performance validation
  • Monitor construction schedules, progress, risk and critical milestones
  • Drive contractor performance and accountability
  • Maintain strong compliance with Permit-to-Work and site safety requirements
This is a contractor-led delivery environment rather than a traditional direct-report leadership structure.

What we're looking for
We are looking primarily for practical industrial construction capability, rather than a particular qualification.

Ideally you will bring:
  • 5-10 years' experience in construction, commissioning or industrial project delivery
  • Strong experience working within heavy industry or industrial processing
  • Demonstrated brownfield or live-plant construction experience
  • Experience managing multiple contractors on site
  • Strong mechanical or process plant construction exposure
  • Experience with plant upgrades, shutdowns and tie-ins
  • Understanding of construction sequencing within an operating facility
  • Strong safety and work control discipline
  • Practical problem-solving capability
  • The confidence to make decisions and drive contractors toward delivery
  • An engineering or technical qualification would be advantageous, but is not essential where you can demonstrate the right level of industrial construction experience.
  • Experience involving bag filters, dust collection, process gas systems, emissions-control equipment, ducting, fans or similar process plant equipment would be particularly valuable.
  • Relevant industry backgrounds may include Cement | Mining | Minerals Processing | Steel | Power Generation | Manufacturing | Bulk Materials | Chemicals | Heavy Industrial Processing
The opportunity
  • Rem: $180,000 + super
  • Relocation Support Available
  • This role provides genuine ownership of a significant construction package from site execution through to commissioning.
  • You will be working within an operational industrial environment where safety, sequencing and practical construction leadership matter, and where you can see the project being physically delivered around you.
