Are you a highly detailed, systems-minded operational leader who thrives in complexity, fast-moving environments and business-wide coordination during critical events? This newly created leadership role offers the rare opportunity to build and shape a high-performing function responsible for major event (cat) readiness, response orchestration, quality assurance, controls uplift, and enterprise governance across a large national claims environment.

This is an on-site leadership role with strong executive visibility, offering the opportunity to shape and embed a centre of excellence while naturally elevating your profile for future career growth.
 
You will lead a team of 11 specialists, including Quality Control (8) and Major Events Coordination (3), overseeing operational preparedness, incident coordination, governance, insights, and the uplift of processes, controls and assurance frameworks.
 
About the Opportunity
 
In this critical leadership position, you will:
  • Build, refine and lead the organisation's national catastrophe preparedness and response capability
  • Establish strong operational rhythms, playbooks, governance frameworks and quality assurance maturity
  • Coordinate cross-functional response across claims, assessing, commercial, finance, data, operations and executive stakeholders
  • Review, uplift and optimise existing processes, controls, risk frameworks and QA insights to drive enterprise improvement
  • Lead preparedness cycles, operational planning, incident notifications, stakeholder meetings and data-driven decision-making
  • Represent the function across senior forums and collaborate on technology, weather-data and satellite-imagery initiatives that drive real-time insight and operational accuracy
  • Lead and grow a specialist team, fostering structure, accountability, initiative and proactive problem-solving
This role is ideal for an operational leader who has managed complex, high-volume service environments and is ready to step into a business-wide impact role focused on governance, systems thinking, orchestration and uplift.
 
What you will bring to this role:
  • Structured, detailed and governance-focused- strong process discipline, documentation, and control improvement
  • Operationally fluent- ideally with experience across claims, insurance operations, risk, quality, assurance, contact centres, or large-scale service delivery
  • Calm under pressure- able to coordinate people, data and decisions during fast-moving operational events
  • A strategic systems thinker - able to interrogate processes, identify gaps and uplift frameworks
  • A strong communicator and influencer- confident engaging leaders across all levels
  • Proactive and forward-looking- anticipating issues, preparing responses and driving continuous improvement
