Walk beside those who have served.

This organisation is expanding its in-house housing capability and is recruiting four Housing Support Practitioners to deliver a strengthened, regionally embedded housing response for veterans and their families at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness.

This is practical, structured and outcomes-focused case management, not crisis hotline work. You will support veterans from housing instability through to sustainable, long-term tenancy.

The Opportunity
As a Housing Support Practitioner, you will deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based case management, helping veterans secure and sustain safe, stable housing through coordinated, hands-on support.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of up to 20 veterans and families
• Support access to crisis, short-term, social, community and private rental housing
• Assist with rental applications, inspections and tenancy sustainment
• Provide practical assistance (e.g. fuel, food vouchers, urgent supports where appropriate)
• Navigate tenancy legislation and homelessness frameworks
• Build relationships with landlords, housing providers, NGOs, government and correctional services
• Maintain accurate case notes and compliance documentation
• Participate in supervision, team meetings and case reviews

The Cohort
You will work with veterans who may be:
• Rough sleeping or at risk of homelessness
• Exiting custody or institutional care
• Experiencing financial hardship or family breakdown
• Managing mental health or substance use challenges

This is meaningful but complex work that requires resilience, emotional regulation and strong professional boundaries.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:
• Degree in Social Work, Human Services or Behavioural Sciences
or Cert IV+ in Community Services with relevant experience
• Experience in housing, homelessness or complex case management
• Current driver’s licence
• Ability to work autonomously within a structured governance framework

Highly Regarded:
• Knowledge of tenancy legislation
• Experience working with veterans or the ADF community
• Strong judgement, reasoning and decision-making capability

What’s On Offer
• Approx. $91264 + super + salary packaging (Level 1 baseline)
• Annual performance-based payment eligibility
• Purpose-driven work with real, measurable outcomes
• Strong professional support, supervision and team environment

If you’re motivated by impact, structure, and helping people rebuild stability and dignity, we’d love to hear from you.
