The Role
This is a market-building role focused on establishing and scaling the organisation's international commercial footprint - not a traditional sales leadership position.
You will determine where and how the organisation shows up globally - and who it trusts to represent, deliver, and scale its brand in-market.
You will be responsible for defining how the business enters, scales and wins in international markets, through the design and execution of structured channel strategies and commercial partnerships.
While not a frontline sales role, you will be directly responsible for originating, structuring and closing high-value commercial partnerships.
You will:
- Define and execute international channel strategy across priority regions
- Identify and secure high-quality distributor and JV partners with real market influence
- Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements, ensuring long-term value and accountability
- Design commercially viable routes to market, aligning product, positioning and channel strategy
- Assess, reset and optimise existing partner arrangements
- Build and manage a disciplined, high-quality international pipeline
- Operate in-market, building credibility and leading negotiations to close
- Influence when and how markets evolve from distribution to JV or in-region capability
- Work cross-functionally with sales, product, operations and leadership to ensure international strategy is aligned, executable and scalable
Our client is seeking a proven international commercial builder with a track record of creating growth in complex, global environments.
Your strengths will include:
- Demonstrated success building international markets from the ground up
- Deep experience structuring and closing:
- Joint ventures
- Strategic commercial partnerships
- Exceptional negotiation capability, with experience operating at senior executive level
- Strong commercial judgement-able to assess partner capability, risk and long-term viability
- Experience operating in less structured or emerging markets, where adaptability and influence are critical
- A disciplined approach to pipeline development, deal progression and forecasting
- The ability to operate with high autonomy, pace and ambiguity
- Strong judgement in partner selection, with the ability to identify risk early and walk away from misaligned opportunities
- Experience across Asia or high-growth international markets
- Confidence in product-led, manufacturing or fit-out environments
- Understanding of government or institutional procurement
- A builder, not a maintainer
- Commercially sharp, credible and outcomes-driven
- Able to create structure, strategy and momentum where none exists
- A strong negotiator who builds mutually beneficial, performance-driven partnerships
- Comfortable operating globally and on the ground, not from behind a desk
- Energised by the challenge of opening and scaling markets
- Executive remuneration + performance incentives (OTE ~$400k)
- Direct reporting line to the CEO, with real influence on global strategy
