Our client is Australia’s largest integrated construction materials company, with their NSW Quarries business generating $400–$450M in revenue across 25 operating sites (including three key Sydney rail terminals). This is one of their most complex and strategically significant business units, and they are seeking a senior Asset Manager to lead their asset strategy, reliability, and optimisation agenda.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, NSW Quarries, the Asset Manager plays a critical leadership role in ensuring quarrying and terminal assets are safe, compliant, reliable, and optimised (SCRO framework). Leading a team of five specialists (project engineers, planners, and procurement), you will
• Develop and implement five-year asset care and lifecycle plans to support both operational and capital expenditure ($50M+ annually).
• Drive asset reliability, performance, and optimisation across fixed and mobile plant.
• Lead capital improvement and maintenance projects, ensuring robust contractor and contract management.
• Provide clear reporting and performance metrics (including OEE) to operational and executive teams.
• Champion risk and compliance management, working closely with HSE and operational leaders.
• Lead, coach, and empower maintenance and site teams, building long-term capability and embedding a culture of asset care and accountability.
• Partner closely with operations, finance, and commercial stakeholders in a matrix structure, influencing decisions and driving continuous improvement.
About You
You will be an inclusive and influential leader with the ability to deliver strategic asset outcomes while empowering your teams and contractors. Your profile will include:
• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven senior leadership experience in asset management within heavy industry, mining, or construction materials/quarrying.
• Expertise in reliability engineering, maintenance planning, and lifecycle costing.
• Strong track record in contractor and contract management for major maintenance and capital projects.
• Demonstrated success driving transformational change and building capability across site-based teams.
• Financial acumen, with P&L accountability ($20M+) and budget setting experience.
• Knowledge of CMMS systems (Maximo desirable, but not essential).
• Inclusive leadership style, able to influence across a matrix organisation and engage hearts and minds.
