Key Responsibilities:
You will manage a portfolio of high-value SME clients while leading a team of 5 accounting and booking professionals and offshore support. Your focus is strategic advisory, structuring, and delivering high-quality outcomes beyond compliance. You’ll oversee client relationships, guide technical delivery, and support business growth initiatives.
 
Client Management & Advisory
  • Manage primarily A and B-grade clients with a focus on strategic impact
  • Deliver advice across:
    • Structuring, asset protection, and tax planning
    • Succession and exit planning
    • Due diligence
    • Cloud system optimisation
  • Lead AGMs to align client goals and performance
  • Identify value-add opportunities to support client success
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and mentor your local and offshore team, supporting professional development
  • Run regular check-ins and performance reviews
  • Coach across compliance, reporting, and payroll
  • Build a positive, accountable team culture
Technical Review & Delivery
  • Review financials and tax returns across all entity types
  • Ensure technical accuracy and client-ready outputs
  • Apply expertise across CGT, Division 7A, FBT, and trust strategies
  • Support complex advisory work (e.g. due diligence, exits)
Workflow & Systems
  • Manage workflow, productivity, and budgets, maintaining & improving SOPs and systems
  • Liaise with the CEO on operations and technical priorities
  • Help drive scalable delivery models as the firm grows
Strategic Contribution
  • Collaborate with the CEO on team and business planning, driving innovation & automation, and service enhancement
  • Represent the firm with clients and stakeholders
  • Prepare to step into a GM role within 12–18 months
 
What you will bring to the role:
A professional with commercial savvy who blends technical depth with strong leadership and a passion for client success. You might be a Senior Accountant ready to step up or an established leader seeking more purpose, ownership, and alignment:

✔ Strong technical foundations
  • Strong experience in public practice or business advisory
  • Sound knowledge of tax, trusts, companies, CGT, and FBT
  • Skilled in financial reporting, strategic tax planning, and asset protection strategies
  • Proficiency with (ideally) Xero, and other cloud-based tools
✔ Leadership & people skills
  • 5+ years in a senior accountant, team leader or client manager role
  • Experience leading team - You will be genuinely interested in coaching and mentoring a team of accountants and bookkeepers both locally and offshore
  • Be outcomes driven, leveraging off your great people and technical skills.
  • Confidence in reviewing work, developing others, and running performance reviews
  • Comfortable managing workflow, productivity, and coaching with empathy
  • You should have the ability to be an extremely good communicator of complex technical information

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – your clients trust you because you explain things clearly and act proactively
  • Commercial thinking – you understand business drivers & identify opportunities to add value
