Salary:

A national, independent distribution business recognised for exceptional service, fast delivery, competitive pricing and total supply solutions is seeking a hands-on Sales Manager to lead and grow its Queensland sales operation.

This is not a desk-only leadership role. We are looking for a true player–coach — someone who enjoys being in front of customers, leading from the front, and lifting the performance of an established, highly experienced sales team.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the State Manager, you will take ownership of a well-tenured team of 5–6 external sales representatives covering Brisbane metro, regional Queensland and Northern NSW.

Your focus will be to bring structure, cadence and accountability to the sales function — freeing up growth opportunities that already exist within the business. You’ll work closely with the team to analyse performance, identify opportunities, sharpen sales execution, and strengthen customer relationships, particularly within the construction and industrial trade sectors.

While coaching and mentoring is a key part of the role, you will also maintain a select portfolio of key accounts, supporting major customers, opening doors, and driving organic growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and mentor a team of experienced external sales representatives
  • Implement a consistent, data-driven sales management rhythm (call planning, pipeline reviews, account analysis, action plans)
  • Personally manage and grow key customer relationships, particularly within construction and industrial markets
  • Drive revenue growth from both existing customers and new opportunities
  • Analyse customer spend, product mix and lost business to uncover growth opportunities
  • Lift sales capability through improved product knowledge, sales discipline, behaviours and mindset
  • Act as the conduit between sales, operations and internal teams to improve service, delivery and customer outcomes
  • Build a strong, accountable, team-first culture with a clear focus on performance and results
About You
You are a commercially minded sales leader who has done the job yourself — and still enjoys doing it.

You may currently be a high-performing Sales Manager, or a senior salesperson ready to step into a broader leadership role, but either way you bring credibility, maturity and adaptability.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
  • Have proven experience leading and coaching sales teams
  • Are comfortable being both strategic and hands-on
  • Can adapt your leadership style to suit different personalities and experience levels
  • Are confident presenting in boardrooms one day and walking job sites the next
  • Bring strong sales fundamentals — planning, pipelines, discipline and follow-through
  • Have exposure to construction, industrial, trade, transport or aligned sectors (industry experience is valued, but strong leadership capability is essential)
