Our client is an internationally backed, global market leader in insurance, offering you the opportunity to step into a newly created Recoveries Manager role.   In this pivotal position, you'll lead leaders, shape strategy, embed operational control, and deliver multi-million-dollar recoveries outcomes. Backed by a culture of growth, transformation and high performance, this role offers the chance to make a visible impact while building your career with an organisation recognised for its international scale and strength.

What's in it for you?

  • This is a newly created leadership role within the Recoveries function of a national insurer. The Recoveries Manager will take ownership of one of three specialist verticals, reporting to the Head of Recoveries, and will be responsible for both people leadership and operational outcomes.
  • You will lead 4-5 Team Leaders and around 25-30 staff through a period of structural and cultural change. The teams have recently been reshaped into new specialties, and your role will be to provide clarity of expectations, rebuild engagement, and coach leaders to drive consistent performance.
  • Beyond managing people, this role carries a senior remit - you will shape how recoveries are delivered by embedding operational control, introducing evidence-based decision making, and ensuring activities are targeted to achieve the highest yield. This includes improving the speed of third-party identification and conversion, which has a direct multi-million-dollar impact on receipting outcomes
  • The role also requires a hands-on, analytical approach. You won't be handed perfect dashboards; instead, you'll be expected to work with raw, complex datasets, stitch them together, and extract insights that guide team activity and influence senior decision making.
  • Finally, you will be a key driver of transformation and continuous improvement - building a centre of excellence in Recoveries, partnering with stakeholders in Analytics, Strategy, and Optimisation, and working with external legal and mercantile partners to ensure cost-effective outcomes.
  • A highly competitive rem and career pathway
What You'll Bring
  • Proven leadership of leaders - 5+ years' experience leading Team Leaders or Managers in high-volume environments, ideally across recoveries, claims, debt collection, or financial services. You'll know how to coach leaders to become accountable, capable, and confident in driving their teams.
  • Sector knowledge- Ideally a background in insurance recoveries, debt collection, or another regulated service industry where compliance, customer obligations, and operational efficiency go hand in hand.
  • Analytical strength- not just comfortable with data, but able to interrogate complex or imperfect datasets, connect the dots, and use evidence to identify what drives outcomes. You'll bring curiosity, commercial acumen, and problem-solving skills that influence both team activity and senior decision making.
  • Change resilience- leading from the front, you thrive in environments of change, with a "start-up mentality" that sees you roll up your sleeves, self-serve where needed, and find practical solutions rather than waiting for others.
  • Stakeholder impact- collaborative and engaging, you'll build strong relationships with peers and partners across legal, analytics, and optimisation, influencing through evidence, transparency, and well-reasoned recommendations.
  • Leadership presence- resilient, approachable, and people-focused, you'll bring clarity to teams that have undergone structural and cultural change, rebuilding engagement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Leading and coaching 4-5 Team Leaders (with 25-30 indirect staff), creating clarity of performance expectations and driving team engagement.
  • Delivering recovery outcomes across high-volume claims portfolios, ensuring speed, compliance, and financial optimisation.
  • Embedding operational control - developing processes, monitoring KPIs, and ensuring downstream impacts of changes are understood.
  • Partnering with stakeholders in Analytics, Strategy and Optimisation to identify and target high-yield recovery activities.
  • Managing external partners such as legal firms and mercantile agents to achieve cost-effective outcomes.
  • Supporting teams through recent structural and cultural change, building capability and maintaining morale.
This is more than just an operations role - it's a chance to step into a newly created leadership position where your decisions will shape recoveries strategy, your leadership will build capability, and your impact will be directly visible in multi-million-dollar outcomes.

So if you're a leader who thrives in complexity, enjoys rolling up your sleeves, and wants to leave your mark on a high-growth, high-integrity business, we'd love to hear from you.
