Are you passionate about shaping learning environments that inspire future generations? We are seeking an experienced Planning Officer to join a dynamic Planning & Facilities team supporting school infrastructure projects across Queensland.

About the role
In this key position, you’ll provide planning expertise and technical guidance to support the development and delivery of new schools, building projects, and site master plans. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants, you’ll help ensure education projects meet both community needs and regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating planning applications and approvals for new school sites and major expansions
  • Providing technical advice on planning and land acquisition matters
  • Managing stakeholder engagement with principals, senior leaders, architects, and government officers
  • Overseeing consultant outputs to ensure alignment with project briefs
  • Preparing planning reports, submissions, and site-specific responses
  • Monitoring legislative changes and external planning applications impacting school sites
About you
You are a skilled and detail-oriented professional with experience in planning approvals, stakeholder engagement, and capital works or infrastructure projects. Confident in navigating planning processes, you bring strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and build effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

Essential qualifications & requirements include:
  • Degree in Town Planning, Environmental Science, Land Use Planning, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in development approvals and planning advice
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills with attention to detail
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across sites
  • Eligibility to work in Australia and ability to obtain/hold a Working with Children Check
