Our client seeks an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join their established team. This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you will help drive operational excellence, support continuous improvement and ensure the delivery of accurate, compliant and timely payroll services across the business.

The Role
Reporting to the National Payroll Manager, the Payroll Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing daily payroll operations and supporting the broader payroll function. You will provide hands-on leadership to the team, act as the first point of escalation for payroll matters and help implement process improvements and system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of multiple payrolls
  • Oversee compliance obligations including Single Touch Payroll, superannuation, payroll tax and statutory payments
  • Review payroll data, identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions
  • Provide guidance, support and escalation assistance to payroll team members
  • Monitor adherence to payroll policies, procedures and financial controls
  • Contribute to process improvements and workflow enhancements to drive efficiencies
  • Support system implementations, upgrades and payroll-related initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with People Services, IT and other internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve service delivery
  • Assist with audit requirements and external reporting as required
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver responsive and professional support to employees and operational teams regarding payroll queries
What You Will Bring
  • 5–10 years’ experience in payroll, with demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, award interpretation, leave entitlements, terminations, workers compensation, superannuation and payroll tax
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll processing in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to prioritise competing deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative working style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability and strong analytical skills
  • Experience with Kronos and SAP SuccessFactors (highly regarded)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (bachelor’s degree, Certificate IV or Diploma in Payroll/Finance desirable)
