Logistics Supervisor – Nightshift (3pm – Midnight)
Prestons, NSW | Cement and Heavy Building Materials
Nightshift leadership role managing localised freight operations in the cement sector. Prestons-based with oversight of 50 drivers. Strong safety, compliance and operational improvement focus.
- Lead a high-volume nightshift transport operation across metro and regional NSW
- Drive safety, fleet efficiency and performance outcomes with a continual improvement mindset
- Competitive salary package and scope to influence frontline logistics
Based at Prestons in Western Sydney, with some travel to Newcastle and the Southern Highlands, this position oversees the nightshift transport operations for a major heavy building materials supplier. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and performance of approximately 50 drivers each shift, including company drivers and third-party contractors.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a logistics leader with at least five years of experience in transport, logistics or supply chain operations. You will ideally have worked with concrete, cement or other bulk construction materials, and are familiar with short-haul or metro delivery operations. Long-distance freight experience alone will not suffice.
You will bring:
- Proven experience managing driver teams, including scheduling, rostering and performance support
- Strong knowledge of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR regulations and compliance requirements
- A demonstrated ability to foster a proactive safety culture and ensure safety protocols are followed
- A commercial mindset, with the ability to optimise fleet utilisation, manage operating costs and improve asset availability
- A practical, hands-on approach to operational improvement, with a mindset geared towards continual improvement
- An understanding of customer expectations and the role logistics plays in delivering reliable service
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful and visible impact. You will be joining a team focused on lifting performance, improving delivery service levels and strengthening communication across shifts. Your ability to rebuild trust, lead with clarity and drive outcomes will be critical to your success.
This is not a role for someone looking to maintain the status quo. It is suited to someone ready to lead from the front, identify improvement opportunities and bring energy, discipline and focus to an essential part of the supply chain.
If you are ready to help drive the transformation of a critical logistics operation and deliver real, measurable results, submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your suitability for this exciting opportunity. For a confidential discussion please contact Nick Hines on 0410 425 358.
